Puerto Rico Convention Center

Spanish PV developer and operator Gestamp Solar completed a 5MW PV installation at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan. The convention center is the largest in the Caribbean and now features 17,000 Trina Solar solar panels over car parking spaces and 2,000 panels on the main roof of the building. The 5MW plant will generate around 8,000MWh of electricity annually. It took eight months to construct the project and required US$20 million in investment. Construction of the facility created 125 jobs, while 25 permanent jobs have now been established to help maintain the installation.
